Abstract
We report the case of a patient with Schmid-type metaphyseal chondrodysplasia, which was treated by valgus osteotomies of the femurs. The patient was a 4-year-8-month-old boy He was 85cm tall and weighed 13.1kg, both well below the fifteenth percentile for his age, and appeared to have increased lumbar londosis, flexion contracture of the hips and coxa vara. We performed subtrochanteric valgus osteotomies to gain an improvement in coxa vara. 6 months after operation the cartilaginous growth plates of the distal and proximal of the femur decreased and his gait and appearance were improved.
