Abstract

The article describes an assessment of O. E. Lebedev's hypotheses presented in his work “The End of the Compulsory Education System” through a SWOT analysis tool, touches on the structural and regulatory aspects of the development of the general education system. The article describes the competencies that a modern school graduate should have the 21st century. The article considers the role of federal state educational standards in improving the effectiveness of educational activities and the quality of the educational process, in creating conditions necessary to meet the requirements for the quality of the educational process. The conclusion is made about the need to accept the introduction of different types of project activity as the main trajectory of modernization of the education system
