БАГАТОГРАННІ МОЖЛИВОСТІ БАНДУРНОГО ВИКОНАВСТВА

Abstract

The article analyzes the multifaceted possibilities of bandura performance, which contribute to the use of the Ukrainian national instrument not only as a solo and accompaniment, but also in ensembles of homogeneous, mixed ensembles and in various orchestras, where the bandura is presented as a solo instrument. The current stage of development of bandura creativity and performance is based on ancient traditions, because bandura art is inextricably linked with kobzarism, this living folklore encyclopedia of the history of Ukraine with all the cries and joys, with its glorious knights. It should be noted that the kobza/bandura became the personification of the heroic and patriotic spirit of Ukrainians, and the figure of the kobza/bandura player, which was vividly reflected in Ukrainian literature, music, poetry, painting, theater and, most importantly, in folk art, is the embodiment of the Ukrainian people’s glory and greatness. The art of bandura became especially important during the evolvement of statehood, which is associated with the growing role of the bandura in the presentation of Ukrainian culture in the world. Today, the bandura, this «wonderful instrument of Mamay the Cossack», as it was called by art critic L. Kiyanovska, is a musical symbol of Ukrainian culture and spirituality. The current stage of development of bandura art is based on ancient traditions and at thesame time marked by new trends, including improvement of the instrument itself, enrichment of the performance methodology, expansion of repertoire, growth of bandura schools in Ukraine and abroad. Therefore, the number of musicological works on kobza art is growing both in the scientific naional literature and in the diaspora literature. However, the history of kobzarism and bandura performance still requires in-depth research using comparison and generalization approaches.
