Abstract

The article presents the historiography of views of foreign and domestic scientists on investment as one of the most important elements of the development of the national economy. In particular, the contribution of various economic schools to the development of investment theory and the justification of their role in the reproductive process is considered. It was revealed that scientists, researching the concept of "investment", use the work of their predecessors, therefore investment theories are structured, in particular, the development of classical investment theories and the development of modern investment theories are distinguished. However, the theoretical aspects of investing require their further research, which involves the correspondence between theoretical assumptions and practical results. This will make it possible to use historical experience for the formation of investment resources necessary for the national economy.
