Abstract
In this study, a broadband, low-loss, 4-way waveguide power combiner operating in the W-band is designed and fabricated. The electromagnetic fields in the input waveguide are rotated by 90 degrees and distributed to the output waveguides by using the mode converter. In addition, four output waveguides are placed symmetrically along the input waveguide to minimize the imbalances in the insertion loss and phase shifts. It achieves low insertion loss and high power-handling capability, because it consists of metals without dielectric substrates or absorbers. The fabricated power combiner shows excellent performance, with an insertion loss of less than 0.99 dB and a return loss of more than 14.0 dB across the full W-band.
