Abstract

This article presents evolution of the US digital diplomacy through the lens of technological advancement. The purpose of the study is to identify prerequisites and the main stages of the US digital diplomacy development from 2009 to 2020 in the light of development and introduction of innovations into the state practice. The study is novel in that it is the first to carry out a comprehensive analysis of impact of the technological component of power on the US digital diplomacy formation. As a result, the researcher created a periodisation reflecting introduction of innovations into the US diplomatic practices; identified the factors that had a fundamental impact on continuous process of digital transformation of the US Department of State and explained inevitable convergence of the concepts of digital diplomacy and cybersecurity.
