Abstract

The article analyzes the process of institutional development of Drohobych's banking institutions in the period after the end of the Polish-Ukrainian war, until the start of the stormy events of September 1939. It was established that during this short period of time in Drohobych, the Polish authorities organized an efficient system of private and state banks that mainly concentrated on the capital of Polish and Jewish bankers, whereas Ukrainian capital had a sporadic balance in this system, and even partly some restrictions. On the other hand, Drohobych among the many provincial cities of Galicia occupies the second place after Lviv due to the movement of funds and the diversity of banking institutions. Thus, a brief history of the development of the banks of the «capital of Galicia California» is being reconstructed.
