Abstract

The paper aims to identify the role of traditional cinematic techniques, such as montage, focalization, view rotation, etc., in organizing artistic space of E. G. Vodolazkin’s novels. Scientific originality of the study involves a comprehensive analysis of the writer’s visual poetics. The research material includes, among other works, the novels “Brisbane” (2018) and “The Island Absolution” (2020), which have not been previously investigated in the domestic literary criticism. The role of montage techniques in organizing the intra-textual and intertextual space of the novels is revealed. As a result, it is found that the key features of the writer’s artistic manner are the following: cinematographicity, visual richness, visibility of the literary text.
