Abstract

In the process of implementation of the pilot program for the development of professional competence of the teaching staff of the institution of education, which isbeing implemented in 20 institutions of general secondary education in the city of Kiev, requests were found for the maintenance of coaching activities after the completion of training under a specially designed program. In addition, this need has been confirmed by monitoring of the quality of the design of the program for the development of teaching staff, which actualized the search for its optimal form. The analysis of experience of realization of the training programs for adult professionals confirmed public organizations’ suppositions in relation to the efficiency of supervision. However, the absence of normative documents, that would regulate its use in thesystem of postgraduate pedagogical education, determining functions, aims, tasks, forms of implementation, requirements to supervisor trainings and such like, is a complex problem that needs being resolved both on scientific and legislative levels. The article presents the results of a research on the essence of notion "supervision" and peculiarities of supervision as a form of development of the professional competence of pedagogical staff in the context of reforming the system of education in Ukraine. The article outlines the author’s point of view regarding opportunities of using supervision in the work of educational coaches, forms of carrying out supervision and the structure of supervision. Results of the empirical research confirm the necessity of special training for laboratory assistants and academic staff at institutes of postgraduate pedagogical education for putting supervision into practice. The further research are to pay attention to necessity to create an institute of educational supervision and educational supervisors, clarification of functions of supervision, taking into account the specific activity of educational trainer in the system of education in Ukraine, setting norms of educational trainer and supervisor’s work in the system of postgraduate pedagogical education. In the context of coaching trainers of the program of development of professional competence of pedagogical staff of the educational establishment, it is a necessary step to develop and approbate a separate to the module in carrying out supervision.
