Abstract
Background and Objectives: The purpose of this study is to the find out tendency of articulation according to language age development by the correct proportion of total consonants' articulation, tendency of articulation development in the place of articulation and of manner. Method: For the subject for this study, 23 intellectual disability persons who special school took part in the Urimal test of Articulation and Phonation. Results: First, Intellectual Disability children's correct rate of whole consonant articulation increases as their language age glow up. Second, in the place of articulation, the articulation development tendency has a little difference in each language age group but the order of the total misarticulation, of which sequence is from higher misarticulation to lower misarticulation, is proved to be alvealar, velar, palatal, biabial, glottal and the order almost agree with the case of normal children. Third, in the manner of articulation, the order of misarticulation, of which sequence is from higher misarticulation to lower misarticulation, is proved to be liquids, fricative, affricate, implosive, nasal. Conclusion: The results of this study can be seen that the language articulation age characteristics of children with disabilities subjected to a similar developmental process and normal children, there is a significance to that as a basis for planning a language, education and treatment of children with disabilities.
