Abstract

The paper deals with the history and historiography of toponyms in the Akmola region. The Kazakh-Dzungarian war brought great suffering to the Kazakh people. Various information about the fate of these fateful years is recorded and given on the pages of history to this day. However, there are many unexplored aspects of this war. The evil that the Dzungars committed to achieve their goals will never be forgotten in the minds of the Kazakh people. Therefore, the main goal in this regard is to understand the reality of this historical period. There are many Dzungarian or Mongolian toponyms on the Kazakh land. However, the task of historical science (toponymy) is to determine when and in what historical events these toponyms appeared. Of course, in order to study two nomadic peoples and show the relations between neighboring states, it is necessary to analyze the sources of that time or historical works of the tsarist, Soviet and independent periods.
