Abstract

The purpose of the study is to analyze the aspects and priorities of Turkey’s foreign policy in Afghani-stan based on strategies aimed at seizing regional leadership. The main foreign policy objectives of Turkey regarding the Central Asian region are de-scribed, the major priorities and geopolitical strategy of Ankara are studied, and the goals and principles of relations are considered. The authors seek to identify the key areas for Afghan policy through the few Russian, Turkish sources and academic writ-ings. The research examines the characteristics of the relationship between two countries, analyzes the activities of the Turkish army and private military companies and the use of the soft power strategy. In the authors’ opinion, Turkey will continue to imple-ment the long-term political projects in Afghanistan guided by its own pragmatic interests in order to prove its leadership in the Islamic world.
