Abstract

The article is devoted to the student period of the French poet’s Paul Verlaine literary life when in the 1860-ies he joined the group «The Contemporary Parnassusљ. The author analyses both early Parnassian poems written under the influence of the older generation masters such as Gautier, de Banville, Leconte de Lisle, Mеnard, Baudelaire and the reminiscences of the mature artist. The author defines distinctive features of Parnassian poetry technique.
