Abstract
The study of cultural and historical educational models that have developed in the world culture in different time periods is relevant for understanding the problems and prospects of modern Russian education. Among these are traditional and scientific models. These educational models developed under the influence of the main cultural spheres (science, religion, art, politics), socio-historical features and national character of the States in which they arose. Thus, each model is unique in the cultural sense and specific methodology. Culture and civilization play a significant role in education. In a situation of growing cultural and civilizational contradictions of each model that exhibits stability and may be easily adapted to new socio-cultural conditions. Modern Russian educational system is in the process of formation yet thanks to its historical and spiritual experience it has retained the ability to generate effective educational methods and methods of solving emerging problems. Today, due to the need of modernizing education, its ideological and conceptual foundations are often revised. There are also attempts to copy the western model of education, which creates additional problems of socio-cultural and methodological nature. In this context, it is important to provide cultural analysis of cultural and historical models of education, allowing, in the most complete and general form, to carry out the value and ideological assessment of the changes in modern Russian education.
