Abstract

This study attempted to examine what employees expect from workplace counseling. To thisend, an open questionnaire was conducted among 30 employees receiving internally-basedmodels of workplace counseling. A Consensual Qualitative Research (CQR) was conducted oneach case by four raters. The employees’ expectation for workplace counseling was divided into5 domains and 20 subcategories. From the domain of expectation for the operation ofworkplace counseling, 4 subcategories were derived. 4 subcategories were also derived from thedomain of expectation for the characteristics of workplace counselors. In addition, 3subcategories were derived from the domain of expected internal changes in the counselingprocess, 5 subcategories from expected external changes after counseling, and finally 4subcategories from expectation for workplace counseling contents. This study is a basic studythat empirically examines employees' expectations for workplace counseling from the client'spoint of view, and it will provide useful informations to effectively operate workplacecounseling centers.
