Abstract
The paper investigates the causes of vibrations that affect an increase in the likelihood of failure in a synchronous traction generator (a functional unit of a traction electric drive). During the tests, it turned out that the natural oscillation frequency of the diesel generator unit is significantly higher than the operating speeds of the unit, which eliminates the appearance of resonant phenomena. Based on the results obtained, it can be seen that the vibration increases with an increase in the speed of rotation, whereas it practically does not depend on an increase in the electrical load.
