Abstract

The paper deals with the issue of the formation and implementation of British policy in Palestine in 1917-1939. The paper is based mainly on the diplomatic documents and materials of the British parliamentary debate. The author of the paper aims to answer the question: what were the achievements of British politics in Palestine, or rather, should we talk about the lost opportunities for the mandate administration of the Holy Land in 1920-1939? The author comes to the conclusion that just ten years after joining the administration of the Holy Land, the United Kingdom actually signed for its helplessness. It seems that if it were not for the sharp deterioration in the international situation that occurred from 1931-1933, and then the outbreak of a new world war, the British government would begin to prepare the ground for leaving Palestine already in the 1930s.
