Abstract

The purpose of this study is to compare and examine whether the Korean 「~ji aneumyeon andoenda」out of some double negative expressions that became an issue due to their Japanese style expressions was influenced by the Japanese 「~nakerebanaranai(ikenai)」. Analysis results are as follows: ① The use frequency 「~ji aneumyeon andoenda」was not found often during the but increased during the , and reduced again during the . It might have deep relations with the background of the times that had to be influenced by Japanese language in that most of authors first studied the Korean literary work in Japanese and transferred it into Korean language, and the translation literary work that had been translated in Japanese was retranslated into Korean language during the . Like this, it was found that 「~ji aneumyeon andoenda」is the expression that was influenced by the Japanese style expression of 「~nakerebanaranai」. ② The Korean expression corresponding to the Japanese 「~nakerebanaranai」can be represented as the positive expression of 「~ya handa」and the double negative expression of 「~ji aneumyeon andoenda」. It was found that if it is not to emphasize a strong conclusion or meaning, 「~ya handa」is a natural corresponding expression than 「~ji aneumyeon andoenda」.
