Abstract

The article discusses the issues of gender-marked addresses (vocatives) in Dagestani languages. The authors analyze the system of addresses focused on people and based on gender relations. The semantic relevance of the choice of the address form is revealed. The gender-conditioned use of interjections is characteristic not only for Dagestani, but for all Caucasian languages. The research has shown that for some Dagestani languages gender marking is a feature of not only vocative but also reciprocal and emotional-expressive interjections expressing surprise or indignation.
