Abstract
The purpose of this study is to develop and operate a fashion design course in distance education and evaluate the course’s design. This course is designed based on the How People Learn framework, which emphasizes the importance of building a student-centered, knowledge-centered, assessment-centered, and community-centered learning environment. We develop a graduate-level design studio course, which is completed by fifteen students. This course consists of online and offline learning activities. The online activities consist of learning through video-on-demand (VOD) lectures and text contents and participating in the learning community through blogging individual design projects. The offline activities include attending two classes and completing the design projects. Student evaluations and observations of the teacher and tutor are analyzed and discussed.
