Abstract

In the current context of society’s development, the Internet is treated as a space for the implementation of political practices rather than their tool. The in-troduction of the latest information technology into politics makes it relevant to change the modern po-litical paradigm. The research examines the political interests of citizens in the web space that effectively arranges the virtual political space and performs certain functions at every stage of citizens’ involve-ment in the political process. At the same time, the concept of political interest is regarded as a real basis of political consciousness, a foundation of politics, a cause of political actions. Having analyzed Yandex search results, the author reveals that a study of the political behavior of Internet users al-lows one to understand the aspects of political in-terests and political reaction of the population, pub-lic mood, and the attitude of politically active citi-zens to the country’s leadership. A wealth of real-time information on political events gives ground to consider the web space as a translator and a genera-tor of modern political interests.
