Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of political event experience on political interest and to analyze the mediating role of political event flow on the relationship between political event experience and political interest. Based on extensive literature review, the main factors of political event experience were divided into deviance, educational, entertainment and esthetic experience. Participants were selected from those who had experience in participating in political events. A total of 404 samples were used for the hypotheses testing. Findings are as follows. The deviance experience, educational experience, and entertainment experience as the factors of political event experiences had a significant and positive impact on political event flow and political interest. In turn, political event flow had a significant and positive impact on political interest. As for the relationship among deviance experience, educational experience, entertainment experience, and political interest, political event flow showed a significant mediating effect.
