Abstract

This paper presents findings of the global survey conducted by the Research Centre of the Lille Catholic University regarding issues of access of students with disabilities to the higher education and support available for those students in 103 Catholic universities around the world. Those participating universities compose half of membership of the International Federation of Catholic Universities. Evaluation of legislation concerning policies on rights of disabled persons for higher education was carried out as well. Various aspects of the disabled students support were explored such as: academic support (adaptations and modifications of the curriculum and/or course teaching materials available in the required format; adapted teaching strategies and help from personal tutors etc.), financial aid (level of life autonomy depending on the availability of funding specifically set to cover http://aqce.com.ua/ Актуальні питання корекційної освіти 75 needs of the disabled students and possibly provided by the government and/or by the university), socio-cultural support (how easily the campus environment meets disabled students request for integration in students life and creating friendship realationships), human aid (support by volunteers and/or hired persons in everyday life).
