Abstract

The article highlights Ivan Franko’s work on ancient plots during 1914-1916. Attention is focused on one of the chapters of his “Selection of �ld-Greek Poets”, namely on the translations “From Moero of Byzantium”. The author relies on the critical analysis of the text to ascertain the original used by I.Franko while translating Moero: the intermediate text was the German translation by Georg Thudichum, published in the fourth volume of his “Griechische Anthologie”, Stuttgart, 1858). The author of the article suggest his own translation of an excerpt from Moero’s poem “Mnemosyne”.
