Abstract

In this study, the final consonants’ pronunciations of the Korean and Myanmar Languages were compared and analyzed to order to find commonalities and differences between the basic pronunciations of the two languages. The results of the analysis showed that the Korean language has phonemes similar to Myanmar consonants, but its vowels are not found in Myanmar. The most significant result is the pronunciation method of final consonants. Korean and Myanmar are very similar in consonants and vowels. However, in the final consonants’ pronunciation method, unlike Korean, Myanmar takes a burst when the final consonants are pronounced. Therefore, it was possible to predict the factors that would lead learners to experience difficulties in basic pronunciations, and these elements can be applied to Korean pronunciation education to better teach learners of Korean to pronounce the Korean vowels and final consonants.
