Abstract

Currently, public signs in Russia are not studied enough, unlike China, where this object is regularly researched, especially in the aspect of translation. There are different views on terminological names, definitions, functions of public signs. The article considers the corresponding terminology system, as well as the definition and classification of public signs. An attempt is made to clarify these issues with a view to promote the development of a linguistic theory of public signs.
