Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of the main theoretical provisions of the “New Spanish Grammar” (2009-2011) published under the auspices of 22 academies of the Spanish language (including the Royal Spanish Academy). The authors examine those fundamental changes in the approach to the solution of the questions of the language norm, which are dictated by the recognition of the polycentric nature of the modern norm of the Spanish language. The types of grammatical description offered by the academies, the problems of exemplification, the ways of practical application of the developed approaches for the sake of preserving the unity of the Spanish language are analyzed.
