Abstract
Metaphor, being one of the ways to create a linguistic picture of the world, offers associative mechanisms for the formation of hypotheses that can stimulate the creative activity of human thinking. The article deals with examples of metaphorical transference and elements of drawing up a cognitive model for the implementation of this transference in zoonymic terms-metaphors in English.
