Abstract

Layers composed of Fe-Co-B layer and Ni-Fe (/Si) underlayer were prepared to increase the magnetic anisotropy field Hk for a greater signal to noise ratio (SNR). Fe-Co-B films with saturation magnetization Ms of 23 kG deposited on Ni-Fe seedlayer exhibited a low Hc of 0.6 Oe in the hard axis and a very high Hk of about 300 Oe. The magnitude of Hk depends on the condition of Ar gas pressure. The direction of depositing particles had an important role in the magnitude and direction of Hk. we proved that the mechanism to increase Hk : The magnetoelastic effect organized the difference of in-plane lattice spacing.
