Abstract
Peer-review is of utmost importance in the course of scientific work for expert evaluation allows checking the validity of acquired data as well as make the style of the work in question more appropriate for the target audience. Out of the three existing types of peer review the double-blind one is dominant among Russian scientific journals. The question of its possible substitution by open review, however, has become the focus of numerous discussions rather often of late. The current article deals with the concept of open peer review that has formed inRussiaas opposed to the European one, illustrated by Elsevier’s project of publishing full texts of reviews. The perspectives of such a type of expert evaluation are investigated as well as challenges that might arise when introducing into Russian editorial and publishing practice.
