Abstract
Loudness is one of the most important parameters in sound quality. In this study, Zwicker’s loudness (standardized in ISO 532-1) for steering wheel noise of a car is evaluated. In addition, a measurement uncertainty model is proposed and the uncertainty is evaluated because it is recommended to evaluate the uncertainty in all measurements possible. The main components of the uncertainty are calibration values of the sound pressure measurement system and measurement repeatability. The results show that the uncertainty in the loudness is 2.3 %. This is a lower value than the ISO 532-1 recommended value of 5 %.
