Abstract
The article considers language game in perfume lovers’ Internet commentaries as a form of linguistic creativity in the thematic discourse. The research objective includes identifying specificity of using language game techniques in this genre of perfumery discourse. Scientific originality of the paper lies in the fact that functions of language game are analysed from the viewpoint of their role in achieving authors’ basic communicative purposes: to transfer olfactory impressions and to express personal attitude to an aroma. The research findings are as follows: the authors identify the basic and additional functions of language game in the perfumery discourse, describe means and techniques for their realization in the sphere of Internet communication.
