Abstract

The article identifies and analyses the dominant features of the style of the modern Russian composer Yuri Krasavin (*1953). Relying on his biographical data, the paper identifies his role in the development of domestic music, in evolution of Saint Petersburg composer school, reveals the peculiarities of post-avant-garde music, which flourished at the turn of the XX-XXI centuries. Among the key features of the composer’s style, the researcher identifies the following ones: aleatoric elements, wide usage of quotations beyond multi-stylistic context, analytical approach to understanding the nature of musical genres, application of new notation techniques, active usage of performance elements, conceptual art and techniques of instrumental theatre.
