Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of achievement goal orientation of Korean female professional golfers on sport confidence and exercise commitment. For achieving the study purpose, a complete enumeration was conducted targeting players with regular tour full seed attending ‘The 31st Kia Motors Korea Women’s Open Championship’ and ‘The Jeju Samdasu Masters’. Using the SPSS 18.0 Version program for Windows, frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were carried out and the study findings are as follows. BR First, among the sub-factors of achievement goal orientation, task goal orientation had significant effect on all the sub-factors of sport confidence, and self-goal orientation had significant effect on social support, demonstration of abilities and coach leadership. Second, among the sub-factors of achievement goal orientation, task goal orientation had significant effect on cognitive commitment and behavioral commitment. Lastly, among the sub-factors of sport confidence, physical/mental preparation and coach leadership had significant effect on cognitive commitment, and social support and coach leadership had significant effect on behavioral commitment.
