Abstract

The research aims to determine the features characterising processes of ethnocultural identification in the Buryat poetry in the diachronic perspective. The article shows how the tendency to overcome the syndrome of postcolonial literature manifests itself over time in the modern Russian-language poetry of the national region. The research is novel in that it is the first to consistently identify the features peculiar to manifestation of the ethnocultural component in the Buryat poetry among representatives of different poetic generations: from authenticity of ethnic perspective, through self-exotisation or, conversely, deactualisation of the topic, to removal of the “ethnic/universal” dichotomy. As a result of the research, the authors have identified relevant motifs and images of ethnocultural identity in the Buryat poetry.
