Abstract

The evolution of sociological approaches to sports studying is considered in the article. It is shown that the theories by T.Veblen, M.Weber, H.Ortega-y-Gasset, J.Huizinga, K.Jaspers, N.Elias, P.Bourdie has rendered essential influence on formation and development of sociology of sports. It is noticed that scientists an lazed sports as a social phenomenon with the help of different theories: the theory of game, structural functionalism, existentialism,structuralism, the theory of conflict,phenomenology, the figurational theory, symbolical interactionism. It is underlined that postmodern sociology has wide application in modern sociology in sports studying.
