Abstract

Objectives The purpose of this study was to find out the total effect size of domestic children and youth sand play therapy, the, number of group members, the type of problem to be treated, the agd of participants, the total number of sessions, hours per session, structure, and dependent variables. Methods To this end, a total of 1556 domestic thesis papers and academic journal papers published from January 2015 to April 2022 were analyzed. A total of 18 papers were selected, excluding 412 papers before the first 2014 and overlapping papers, 21 papers were excluded depending on the target in the second selection, and 3 statistical figures were omitted from the final selection. Results The total effect size was 0.849 which showed a large effect size and was statistically significant. As for the effect size according to the treatment variable, when the group members were individual, emotional problems were more effective as the type of problem to ve treated. IN the case of participants, children were more effective than adolescents, and in the case of 10 sessions or less. the number of sessions per week was high when it was three days a week, and the effect size per session was more than 70 minutes. Structuralization was found to ve effective when unstructured. As a result of analyzing the effect of the dependent variable, it was found that the effect of the emotional variable was the most effective. Conclusions This study proved tis effectiveness by conducting a meta-analysis of sand play therapy for children and adolescents in Korea, and is meaningful in providing practical data on the direction of more effecticve use of sand play therapy for the mental health of children and adolescents.
