Abstract

The work provides a review of the past 20 years on the synthesis of metal complexes based on pectins, the study of their physicochemical properties and biological activity. Existing approaches to the production and study of modified pectins reveal the possibility of more effective practical use of natural carbohydrate biopolymers not only in the pharmaceutical industry, but also for medical purposes. One of the ways to change the chemical structure of glycans is to introduce biogenic metal cations into the composition, which helps to obtain substances with desired physicochemical and biological properties.
