Abstract

This study seeks to analyze the status of support for job competency development of local manufacturing SMEs and to propose the direction of local government policies needed to support the job competency development of employees of local manufacturing SMEs. Main results of this study suggest operation of onsite job training programs, free support for employment skills development programs using nearby university campuses, and developing and delivering E-Learning content tailored to the needs of each manufacturing SME, support for obtaining a highly job-related certificate, and expansion of subsidies for education expenses for obtaining the certificate as the local government support policies. In addition to these local government support policies, various alternatives can be considered by each local government to support the job competency development of employees of local manufacturing SMEs.
