Abstract

The paper studies the structure of social differentiation of the Tatar language in the late XIX - early XX century, namely the stratification and situational parameters of the social and speech portrait of the Tatar merchant class. The purpose of the research is to determine the ratio between the types of social variability of the Tatar language in the communicative activities of the specified corporate group. Scientific novelty of the paper lies in the fact that the structure of social differentiation of the Tatar language has not yet become an object of scientific research. As a result, it has been found that communicative needs of representatives of the Tatar merchant class were served by all functional strata of the Tatar language with the predominance of the vernacular, depending on situational factors.
