Abstract

The purpose of this article is to reflect on the general character traits of Hayk Nahapet in the works of Hovhannes Vanandetsi. Our task is to highlight characteristics of the ancestor founder of the Armenian people in Vanandetsi's individual works, to show, apart from studying the historiographical sources, that, unlike the works of the old period, the psychological drama of the characters is emphasized in the author's writings, according to the characteristics of the literature of the new period, with Hayk Nahapet as the core character. Reference was also made to the fact that although Vanandetsi made the events of the pagan period the subject of his poems, nevertheless, as a Christian author, he constantly emphasizes the belief of the ancestors of the Armenian people, the monotheism.
