Abstract

Purpose -The main purpose of the study was to identify exhibitors’ subjective perceptions of participation benefits in food exhibition regarding for sustainable local food. Design, data, and methodology -The Q methodology was applied to achieve the purpose of the current study, which consists of five steps: Q-pupulation, Q-sample completion, P-sample selection, Q-sorting, and Q-analysis. Q-sample was completed through interviews with 17 experts and data collected from 32 exhibitors in the ‘Busan International Food Expo(BO FOOD) 2022’ were analyzed using R 4.1.3 program. Result - Through Q analyses, three types of perception were extracted. The first type is economic sustainability orientation, the second type is cultural sustainability for attracting food tourists, and the third type is trust building with other participants or attendants. Conclusions -This study emphasized the role of food exhibition for sustainable local food and expanded sustainability theory to the context of local food management. In addition, practical implications were proposed for managing food exhibition and establishing sustainable local food.
