The article discusses the ethno-specific meanings of the archetypal symbol life-live-liver in written English discourse. In the course of their work, the authors rely on the hermeneutic method to interpret the veiled meanings of the text, as well as on the quantitative method, which allows identifying quantitative aspects of the use of lexemes. The study of the word forms life-liveliver from the point of view of etymology served as the starting point for identifying their universal and ethno-specific meanings in the linguocultural aspect. The high frequency of use of the lexeme liv* emphasizes its importance, which allows readers to realize the value of human life.
