Abstract

The dressing in Bagratid Armenia besides its vital and elegance meaning had also a political one. It was considered a symbol of reign. The information about numerous noted (fashionable and precious) dresses mentioned among gifts, presented to the Bagratid elite. As to the meaning of local dressings, from the aesthetical point of view, they more brightly express the elite’s taste preferences or endencies of local fashion. Besides, the study gives an opportunity to have some understanding not only on the meaning of dressing, its making materials, mode, colour, decorations, but also about the royal etiquette, traditions of the time, and the most important of all, the development of exact branches of trade and crafts.
