Abstract
The study of the quality of life is traditionally interdisciplinary in nature. This often leads to different views on this phenomenon, to the absence of a single well-established definition, despite a long history of research. This article discusses the classical approaches to the study of quality of life, as well as modern trends in the study of quality of life in China. The differences between researchers in understanding the quality of life consist in different accents on subjective and objective indicators. The need for psychological studies of the quality of life is due to the role of a person in building his life. Currently, a diverse analysis of the quality of life is generally accepted by taking into account a number of objective and subjective indicators. Since the late 1970s, the quality of life has been the subject of research by Chinese scientists. In China, a theoretical analysis of the quality of life problem was initially carried out, and then numerous empirical studies of urban and later rural residents were carried out. A number of indicators are proposed for study, as well as a structural model of the quality of life, taking into account the peculiarities of social, economic and cultural development. In recent years, the number of empirical studies of the quality of life has been steadily growing, and the possibilities of applied research are expanding. There is a growing interest in developing criteria and methods for studying the quality of life that take into account sociological and economic data. Preference is given to multidimensional measurements of the quality of life, including its psychological component. Differences in the assessments of subjective perception of life and the variety of environmental parameters indicate that the quality of life is a complex multidimensional phenomenon.
