Abstract

The purpose of this study was to understand preschooler’s consumer behavior and attitudes perceived by pre-day care center teachers and their attitudes toward consumer education through self-created consumer education stories. The study also explored the problems of managing educational roles and suggests how to resolve them. University students as pre-day care center teachers created stories with only pictures from unknown children’s stories in Korea. The contents and conversations were analyzed for this study.BR As for the results of this study, the performance of the students as pre-day care center teachers were unstable, confusing, and non-professional. Such traits caused concerns about their effectiveness in consumer education for early childhood. Thus, suggestions follow; First, ‘Consumer Education’ has to be a required course for day-card center teacher qualifications. Second, ‘Consumer Education’ has to be arranged in capacity building for continuing education. Third, consumer education programs and tools should be developed and provided for student teachers.
