Abstract

Objectives The purpose of this study is to explore the measures to measure and utilize major ability for data-based major education quality management through the analysis of previous studies.
Methods Through the analysis of previous studies and the expert council, measures for measuring and utilizing the university's major ability were presented.
Results The detailed conclusions are as follows: First, it was confirmed that the development of the major ability measurement tool was largely divided into three types. A case of developing a measuring tool that can be used universally regardless of the characteristics of the major, a case of developing a customized measuring tool reflecting the characteristics of each major, and a case of using the results of students' academic achievements in CQI, the university's quality management system. Second, measures and utilization measures were presented in the areas of class planning, operation, evaluation, and feedback. In the lesson plan area, when writing the lesson plan, an evaluation plan was established by dividing major abilities into knowledge, skills, and attitudes, and target scores were set for each area so that students could identify the goals of their major ability to reach. In the area of class operation and evaluation, various evaluation methods such as paper-based tests, performance evaluations, assignments, quizzes, and presentations were presented in accordance with the pre-set class plan. In the feedback area, a method of quantifying and visualizing the measurement results of major ability and providing them to professors and students was suggested. Third, it was proposed to develop a certificate of achievement of major ability so that students' major ability could be linked to career decision, employment and foundation.
Conclusions The major ability measurement tool should be developed in a way that confirms the objective ability based on the students' academic achievement data, and a detailed design is required from the lesson planning stage to the feedback after measurement. In addition, it is necessary to develop a plan to utilize the major ability measurement to improve classes or help students find employment and start a business.
