Abstract
The implementation of the Strategy for the development of meat industry at the Russian Federation for the period up to 2020 and the consistent policy pursued by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation has ensured positive changes at pig-breeding. Russian pork industry has reached a stable import substitution since 2009 and successfully manages with internal and external factors. Full self-sufficiency according to rational consumption standards was achieved at domestic pork market in 2013, according to medical standards ‒ in 2020. At the same time, all the prerequisites were created for the entry of domestic pork producers on world markets. As a result, our country has a positive foreign trade balance on more than 120 thousand tons of pork annually for last two years.
