This study analyzed the traditional medicine laws of North Korea, the prologue of the journal Koryo Medicine, and Rodong News to obtain data on policy systems and research trends. According to the analysis, the role of Koryo medicine is clearly defined by law as a medical care provider, pharmaceutical production, science and technology development, and herbal preservation. Under Kim Jong Un, Koryo medicine policies have emphasized the commercialization, standardization, and industrialization of Koryo medicine extracts. The results show North Korea’s emphasis on using Koryo medicine and increasing medical independence through Koryo medicine.
