Abstract

The present article introduces an authentic interpretation of sports responsibility. Responsibility in the sphere of sports and physical culture is a legal responsibility, as independent as criminal, administrative, disciplinary, civil, and other types. The system-structural method made it possible to substantiate this independence and distinguish it from other types of legal responsibility. The authors used methods of critical analysis to question those publications that declare the impossibility of classifying sports responsibility as legal. They also conducted a comparative analysis of international legal methods to adopt the positive experience of other countries in terms of the codification of sports legislation as a foundation for the Sports Code of the Russian Federation. The Code would consolidate the main provisions on sports responsibility. The research expands the scientific understanding of sports law and provides material for legislative activities.
